Rotary is a Worldwide organisation whose members are business people who aim to provide humanitarian service within their community and throughout the world. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

There are 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide in more than 32,000 clubs, 530 Districts and over 200 countries. Approximately 57,000 of these members are Within Great Britain and Ireland in 1838 Clubs.

Rotary is a non-political and non-religious organisation and men or women of any race, culture or creed can become members.

Some of the projects Rotary sponsors throughout the world are: -

            Polio Eradication – vaccine transport and immunisation.

            Mobilisation – providing artificial limbs and wheelchairs

            Clean water – providing drinking water free of disease.

            Aid – providing help, equipment, accommodation and the necessities of life to those in need in disaster areas.

            Education – providing schools, books and computers in third world countries.
